The résumé is a rendering. The record is the source of truth.
Books and essays on work, evidence, AI, and the systems that decide how people are seen.
A résumé, profile, interview answer, or professional bio is created for a specific audience at a specific moment. The deeper question is whether the rendering is supported by evidence, context, and professional truth.
Retired Army officer. Technical writer. AI systems practitioner. Author of Four Lifetimes and the Professional Truth trilogy.
Start Here
Start where you are stuck.
I started this work because people needed help with résumés. But the résumé was rarely the real problem. The harder problem was underneath it: people did not know how to interpret their own experience, explain their value, identify where they fit, or prove what their work actually meant.
This site is for people and organizations trying to answer questions the current hiring system keeps pretending are obvious.
You may be here because…
What jobs should I apply for?
You have experience, education, projects, and judgment — but you are not sure what roles actually fit, what titles to search, or what your background makes you credible for.

Maybe you were laid off. Maybe you are transitioning careers. Maybe you are returning to work, leaving the military, moving industries, or trying to explain a messy path. The résumé matters — but only after the work beneath it is understood.

You are not just looking for any job. You are trying to understand which organizations, industries, problems, and environments are most likely to value what you have already demonstrated.

You have revised the résumé, applied online, adjusted keywords, asked for referrals, rewritten your LinkedIn profile, and tried to follow the standard advice. This is where we look beneath the tactics and ask what the system is actually reading — and what it is missing.

Applicant tracking systems, keyword filters, AI tools, recruiters, job descriptions, and hiring workflows all shape how you are seen. Understanding that machinery is the first step toward representing your work more clearly.
Start with Hiring SystemsI came for the books.
Start with the memoir and the Professional Truth trilogy: one human foundation, three books about hiring, evidence, records, and professional truth.
View BooksThe résumé is a rendering. The record is the source of truth. The work begins by recovering what the rendering was never able to hold.
The Body of Work
Four books. One connected argument.
The trilogy begins with broken hiring, moves beyond the limits of the résumé, and ends with a practical framework for worker-owned professional truth. The memoir provides the human ground underneath the whole project: what it means to become what life required while still trying to be seen as a whole person.
Becoming What Life Required
Four Lifetimes is a memoir about a man who kept going, kept carrying, and kept becoming what life required — even when he did not yet have the words for what it all meant.
Broken Hiring
Stranger with a Document examines what happens when capable people are reduced to forms, résumés, applications, keywords, and systems that cannot see them clearly.
Beyond the Résumé
What Comes After the Resume asks what becomes possible when professional truth is supported by richer evidence, context, and interpretation.
Own Your Record
The Living Professional Record offers a framework for preserving the work, evidence, judgment, and context behind every market-facing rendering.
A Framework
The source layer beneath the résumé
The Living Professional Record is not a better résumé. It is the record beneath the résumé — the evidence, context, judgment, artifacts, and work that allow a person to create truthful renderings for different audiences at different moments.
Same person. Different audience. Different rendering. Same underlying truth.
